Ray has headed media agency operations at Mudra and Lintas Media Group, among others and worked with multinationals like Unilever and Nestle and Indian corporations like ITC and Reliance Jio.     Media agency biggies Harish Shriyan and Amit Ray have joined Network Advertising as Executive Directors. Shriyan was until recently Group CEO of Omnicom Media Group and has played a pivotal role in establishing Omnicom Media Group in India. Ray has headed the media function in Mudra, worked with Lintas Media Group and advised corporate players like Reliance Jio and ITC. He is also a specialist in media measurement.

  • Omnicom Media Group Kartik Sharma to helm Omnicom Media Group in India

    It’s now confirmed. Omnicom Media Group has appointed Kartik Sharma as CEO for its operations in India. Sharma joins the Omnicom entity from GroupM’s Wavemaker, where he was most recently CEO for South Asia. He is slated to join the network mid-year. His exit from Wavemaker was announced on Wednesday (January 29). The position was created after former OMG CEO Harish Shriyan’s exit was announced in July 2019.

     

    With over 25 years of media experience under his belt, Sharma has served in a leadership capacity at some of the largest agency networks, including Mindshare, Lintas Media, Madison Media and Maxus and managed clients such as L’Oreal, Mondelez, Netflix and Vodafone. In his new role, Sharma will work closely with Priti Murthy, CEO of OMD India, and Jyoti Bansal, CEO of PHD India, on chartering the continued growth of the agency brands in India.

     

    Speaking on the appointment, Tony Harradine, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Asia-Pacific, said in a statement: “A revered leader with an impressive track record, I am thrilled that Kartik has joined us. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to steer our business to even greater heights in one of the most important markets in Asia.”

     

    For those not in the know, Omnicom Media Group is the media agency network owned by Omnicom, the global. advertising services conglomerate. According to a report in Campaign, OMD occupies the top spot by projected billings in the COM vergence 2019 global billings rankings report. GroupM’s Mindshare is second in the ranking and Carat is #3. In India, GroupM occupies the top slot amongst media agency networks, and OMG is as of now perhaps at #5.

     

    Clearly, Sharma has his role cut out for him. He took charge of Maxus from Ajit Varghese in January 2014 and there has been no looking back since. Sharma has led both Maxus and Wavemaker to winning the coveted Agency of the Year title at the Emvies.

     

     

  • Harish Shriyan to step down as CEO of Omnicom Media Group. Mulling options, may get into start-up mode

    Harish Shriyan has decided to step down from his role as CEO of Omnicom Media Group India by the end of 2019. Over the next six months, Shriyan will work closely with the agencies’ senior leadership team to ensure a smooth transition for the business while the Group searches for a new CEO. Although the communique doesn’t state the reasons for Shriyan quitting, according to information we’ve received, he has been keen on doing it for a while and among the various things he is contemplating is get into start-up mode.

     

    Shriyan was promoted to the chief executive role in December 2017, having been with the Group since its establishment in 2007 and served as its Chief Operating Officer from 2013 to 2017.

     

    Speaking on his 12-year journey with the Group, Shriyan said in a statement: “I am incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented individuals over the years and been part of the Group’s establishment and growth in India. Given its strength in the form of its unique brand positioning, talent pool, infrastructure and exemplary leadership, I am confident that this is the right time for me to pass the baton on. I also have every confidence that the Group and its agencies will continue to excel in India and will follow their journey with pride and admiration.”

  • OMG Digital wins Mobiistar’s Digital + ATL media duties

    Mobiistar has appointed OMG Digital, a newly created unit within Omnicom Media Group India, to handle its digital and ATL media duties. The account will be serviced by a dedicated team of media, strategy and data specialists out of the network’s Gurgaon office.

  • Omnicom unveils Video Planning Norms study in India

    Given the increasing importance of video in digital planning, Omnicom Media Group India has launched a market-first Video Planning Norms study to set guidelines and benchmarks that can direct future planning practices. Comprising data from over 90 brand lift studies conducted since 2016, the scorecard gages the impact of video campaigns in Purchase Intent, Consideration, Brand Awareness and Ad Recall across various categories and demographics.

  • Omnicom awarded digital duties for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles

    Omnicom Media Group has been awarded the digital mandate for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, following a competitive market review that lasted over two months. Omnicom Media Group will set up a new bespoke unit, TATA@OMG, to manage the business under its group leadership team in India.

     

    Speaking on the appointment, Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing at Tata Motors, said: “We have been focusing a lot on our digital marketing, keeping in line with the cars we are launching and the intended TG. We were looking for partners who could walk the talk with us and take our digital marketing to the next level.   • Priti Murthy to join OMD India as CEO (from Maxus)

    Omnicom Media Group-owned agency, OMD India has bolstered its leadership strength with the appointment of Priti Murthy to the role of CEO. She joins OMD from Maxus where she has been Chief Strategy Officer. In her new role, Priti will lead OMD across all business functions, with a focus on building and leading future-ready teams, managing client relationships, and securing new business and growth. Her appointment is effective October 2017 and she will report to Torie Henderson, CEO, Omnicom Media Group, SEA & India. OMD India has completed a decade of being in India.. It may be recalled that in April this year, Jasmin Sohrabji who led the Omnicom Media Group (and OMD India specifically) moved to a global role and was replaced by Henderson.

     

    In a career spanning over two decades (of which 13 has been with GroupM’s Maxus) in media planning, insights and strategy, Murthy has led Maxus’s  development of Moribus, a behavioural science lab that attempts to merge the disciplines of behavioural science, sociology, and psychology to solve real-life business problems. She is also a certified coach that value adds to her leadership skills.

  • It’s 10 years for OMD in India

    Omnicom Media Group-owned agency, OMD India completes a decade of being in business in India. The 10th anniversary will be celebrated through the year with a series of initiatives. OMD India commenced operations in Mumbai on February 7, 2007 and expanded to Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. The agency has over 550 staffers in India with a billing of over USD 650 million.

  • Omnicom appoints Amol Dighe as Head of Investment India

    Omnicom Media Group has announced the appointment of Amol Dighe as Head of Investment, Omnicom Media Group India. The appointment in India follows senior hires for the function in markets like Singapore and Hong Kong.

     

    Mr Dighe will lead strategic insight and analysis over the OMD and PHD investment portfolio to ensure the best possible client outcomes are secured across all media platforms. In addition he will be involved with special development projects across South East Asia.

     

    Prior to his new role at Omnicom Media Group, Mr Dighe has a depth of experience working with Unilever in a Regional Buying and Operations role for the Asia Pacific Region, working with Star TV Network to establish their Client Service Strategy and Planning unit and working with Group M India spanning over nine years. Most recently he was in a leadership role in Jakarta with Mindshare Indonesia.
