  • Goibibo launches new campaign

    Goibibo online travel booking brand has launched a new campaign. Titled #SabkaYaarDegaHazaar, the objective is to solve a peeve in the world of offers of hotel reservations. The film has been conceptualised by MagicCircle Communications and is live on YouTube from May 12.

     

    Notes a communique: “Building on this insight, Goibibo’s campaign #SabkaYaarDegaHazaar, just as the name suggests, offers a flat discount of 1000 to first-time customers. The brand aims to add real value for its customers through the sharp and attractive offer, a refreshing departure from traditional ‘Up to X% discounts’ that are often only perceived as a pull factor. The campaign is brought to life by a digital film featuring leading social media stars Prajakta Kohli, Vihan Samat, and Sanjana Sarathy. The film showcases the three friends chatting about their hotel bookings for a Goa vacation, highlighting the various considerations of travel budgets. The extra INR 1000 from Goibibo is a compelling proposition that helps the group realise their plan.”

     

  • Goibibo rolls out new campaign

    Goibibo, the online travel booking brand, has unveiled a new campaign Full Vasool League. the campaign will help viewers ‘monetize moments of not-watching ads’ with travel deals and offers. To kick start the campaign, the company has partnered with some of the leading cricket platforms.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Suresh, Group CMO of Goibibo, said: “Commercials are lifeline for a marketer including myself.  Having said that, we wanted to take a contrarian view with a quirky activation and engage with the youth. We are confident that our audience will love to play while they sit idle during commercial breaks.”

     

  • TikTok partners GoIbibo for its Diwali offering

    TikTok has announced its collaboration with GoIbibo to make this festive season special for its community of over 200 million users. TikTok has launched Diwali-themed stickers that will be available for users to create personalized greetings using #TikTokDiwali. The users with the most creative greetings will win rewards ranging from goCash+ to domestic and international travel packages provided by GoIbibo. The campaign is live from October 19 to 28.

  • Goibibo gets Deepika Padukone to promote GoCash+

    Goibibo announced the launch of its new TV campaign with brand ambassador Deepika Padukone. The campaign highlights Goibibo’s e-wallet service – GoCash Plus and the benefits of the GoCash Plus feature on Goibibo’s platform.

  • Goibibo assigns media mandate to MediaCom

    MediaCom has bagged the media mandate for the Goibibo.com account. Goibibo has assigned MediaCom the integrated media planning and buying duties for the company.

  • Goibibo appoints Publicis as its creative agency

    Online travel portal, Goibibo has appointed Publicis as its creative agency. The agency will lead the development of all the campaigns for the brand from their Gurugram office.

  • Debrief: Goibibo: Good use of metaphor

    Sharp work from the Goibibo guys, and quite literally too! The strategic thrust is to diss the rivals and gain brownie points in the process.

     

    The setting is an operation theatre. A ‘patient’ is on the bed with multiple knives stuck into his back. When the surgeon arrives, our patient complains about being stabbed in the back by his regular travel agent/portal, that too on several occasions. On account of cancelled airline bookings, being offered horrible hotel rooms, etc. The cool surgeon, instead of operating on the poor fellow, digs the knives back into him, and recommends Goibibo.

     

    This wild approach will help the brand get a good recall when people plan their travel. One, because most people will have had all sorts of bad experiences on their journeys. And will report stories of the ‘missing in action’ travel agent when things went wrong. Therefore viewers will immediately empathise with this creative. As a new brand, Goibibo needed a platform like this to take off. I also like the use of ‘being stabbed in the back’ metaphor as the central idea. It gives the ads visual drama and helps build a long-term memory hook. And it makes the ads entertaining to watch.

     

    Good work. In terms of both, the strategy and the creative. Well, the ad agency has delivered. Now it’s up to the Goibibo team to meet their deadly promise. They let the travellers down, and Goibibo will have to be ready to face frontal knife attacks. J
