  • FCB Ulka celebrates 60 years in India

    FCB Ulka Group is celebrating its 60th anniversary.  It may be recalled that Ulka Advertising was established in 1961 by Bal Mundkur with just seven people and a clear vision of building an agency that put creativity at the centre of everything it did. The agency has now metamorphosed into the FCB Ulka Group, which ranks among the Top 5 networks in the country with over 750 employees, spread across six offices, partnering 120+ clients. The group is marking the 60-year milestone with the launch of a special logo, which is a tribute to FCB’s ‘Never Finished’ philosophy.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Ohri, Group Chairman & CEO, FCB India said, “I would like to take this opportunity to salute the outstanding leadership of the FCB Ulka Group. The organizational culture that has been built over the years has stood the test of time and brought us to our 60th year anniversary. I’m truly proud of our journey and excited about the possibilities of the next 60 years,” adding: “While this is an important milestone, we look at it as a new beginning. A time to renew our commitment to creativity, and a reminder to ourselves to always be ‘Never Finished’…”

  • Vidyadhar Wabgaonkar appointed President of FCB Cogito

    Rohit Ohri, Chairman and CEO, FCB India has announced the appointment of Vidyadhar Wabgaonkar, fondly known as Wabs, to the position of President – FCB Cogito, the Brand Consulting division of the FCB India.

     

    Wabs has also headed Strategic Planning at FCB Ulka (Mumbai and South) and is currently leading the Strategic Planning effort at FCB Interface, which he will continue to do along with his new responsibility at FCB Cogito.

     

    In a career spanning two decades, he has handled assignments in marketing, sales, advertising and consulting with companies like P&G, Marico, Roche and Leo Burnett India before joining the FCB Ulka Group.

     

    Apart from writing a number of articles, Wabs is also a certified practitioner of clinical hypnosis. His keen interest lies in learning the laws that govern the human mind from other disciplines like NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and applying them to business situations.

     

    Commenting on the appointment, Ohri said: “FCB Cogito provides a cutting edge to FCB India with the thinking muscle and deep insight that it brings to our business. FCB Cogito has been successful for over a decade now and with Wabs, we look forward to continued growth from this unique part of our Group.”

  • FCB Ulka Interactive wins creative & media duties for Vero

    FCB Ulka Interactive, a division of FCB Ulka Group recently added to its large portfolio of clients by bagging the duties for Vero.

     

    Vero has launched an innovative concept that offers a new way to appreciate coffee. One can enjoy uniquely crafted blends brewed in a world-class coffee capsule machine at just a touch of a button. Vero coffee looks at redefining the coffee experience for Indian consumers.

     

    ‘Vero’ is an Italian word for Real, True and Perfect that aims to bring the perfect coffee experience to the coffee connoisseurs across India. Taking a cue from the Make in India phenomenon, Vero has focussed on the Indian coffee blends rather than going with the western tastes.

  • FCB Ulka appoints Saad Khan as VP, Strategic Planning

    FCB Ulka Advertising announced the appointment of Saad Khan as Vice President, Strategic Planning. Saad has spent over 17 years building brands and has worked with some of the biggest advertising houses in India like Leo Burnett, Lowe Lintas, Dentsu Marcomm and Euro RSCG. In 2011, he founded ‘Marketing Unplugged’ along with Suman Srivastava.

     

    Commenting on Saad’s appointment Suman Srivastava, Vice Chairman – Strategic Planning, FCB Ulka Group said, “Saad is one of the most creative planners that I have ever worked with. Many creative people have told me that they love working with Saad because he makes their job easy. To me that is the highest compliment that a planner can get. I have worked with Saad almost continuously for the last 10 years and it is great to have him as part of the strategic planning team at FCB Ulka.”

    Saad started his career as a management trainee at Leo Burnett. His passion for brands and finding innovative strategic solutions for clients led him to being given independent charge of Coca-Cola regional and key account businesses. He has a rich cross category experience having worked on brands like Coca-Cola, Wills Lifestyle, Honda, Jack Daniel’s, Voltas, Max New York Life, Volvo and Reckitt Benckiser. Saad loves to challenge formulaic marketing. Being inspired by the fresh wave thinking happening in the sphere of behavioural economics and consumer understanding, Saad brings in a larger perspective beyond just advertising. He strongly advocates the philosophy of ‘helping businesses innovate’.

  • Suman Srivastava appointed as Vice Chair & CSO, FCB Ulka Group

    Rohit Ohri, Chairman and CEO FCB Ulka Group has announced the appointment of Suman Srivastava as Vice Chairman & Chief Strategy Officer, FCB Ulka Group.

In Suman I see a brilliant mind, a deep passion for brand building and inspiring leadership.     A graduate from Delhi University, IIM Ahmedabad and IMD Lausanne, Suman started his career with the Lintas Group and was part of the team that set up SSC&B. He then moved on to Euro RSCG in India and eventually became its CEO as well as Chief Strategy Officer for its Asia Pacific region. Suman then turned entrepreneur and started a strategic consulting firm – Marketing Unplugged, which will now be a part of the FCB Ulka Group.

    As he takes charge in his new role, Suman Srivastava said, “I seem to change jobs every year in which India hosts the cricket world cup. I started my career in Lintas in 1987, then moved to Euro RSCG in 1996 and started Marketing Unplugged in 2011. I am thankful that Rohit offered me such an exciting new role just in the year that India is hosting the T20 World Cup. That ensures my record stays clean. And given that India is not likely to host another world cup for many years, I look forward to a long and happy tenure at FCB Ulka.”

     

    Suman will oversee strategy and all related functions for the Group, including Strategic Planning, Cogito Consulting, Asterii Analytics and Marketing Unplugged.

     

  • Nitin Karkare appointed CEO of FCB Ulka

    Rohit Ohri, Chairman and CEO FCB Ulka Group has announced the elevation of Nitin Karkare to the position of Chief Executive Officer, FCB Ulka Advertising. Prior to this Nitin worked as Chief Operating Officer, FCB Ulka – Mumbai & Bengaluru.

     

    Nitin has been with FCB Ulka since 1986, when he joined the agency as a Management Trainee. Over the years at FCB Ulka, he has worked on some of the oldest agency brands like Amul, Zee, Tata Motors, Wipro, ITC, Zodiac, Nerolac and many more.

     

    Commenting on the elevation, Rohit Ohri, Chairman and CEO FCB Ulka Group said, “My first priority in my new assignment is to ensure that we have the right people in the right leadership roles. Nitin’s passion for advertising, his love for the Company, his deep bonds with our clients and, of course, his charming, and affable work style make him the right person for the position of CEO, FCB Ulka Advertising.   • Suman Srivastava joins FCB Ulka as Chief Strategy Officer

    A graduate from Delhi University, IIM Ahmedabad and IMD Lausanne, Suman is the quintessential advertising strategist. He started his career with the Lintas Group and was part of the team that set up SSC&B. He then moved on to Euro RSCG in India and eventually became its CEO as well as Chief Strategy Officer for its Asia Pacific region. Suman then turned entrepreneur and started a strategic consulting firm – Marketing Unplugged. Suman is not just a master strategist; he is also an author, a trainer and a marathon runner.

     

    Along with bringing Suman on board to helm its strategic planning, FCB Ulka Group has also entered into a strategic alliance with Marketing Unplugged, making for a win-win situation. While being actively engaged with the FCB Ulka Group and its clients’ brands on an ongoing basis, Suman will continue to provide his professional services to the clients of Marketing Unplugged and give it the necessary thrust.
