  • DSport to air South Asian Football Federation Championship

    The 12th edition of the South Asian Football Federation Championship starting September 4 in Bangladesh will be broadcast live on DSport. This championship will see seven teams competing for the title.

     

    This year, seven times SAFF Champions India has been pooled with Maldives and Sri Lanka for the group stage of the competition. With star players like Sunil Chhetri and Gurpreet Singh missing out on this Championship, the responsibility to get the necessary goal conversions will depend on young talented strikers like Rahul KP and Sumit Passi.

     

    Additionally, SAFF will be a huge opportunity for Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Rahim Ali who have been given a chance to showcase their talent after their decent performance in the Under-17 World Cup. Anirudh Thapa who has also been awarded as the emerging player of the year in the 2017-18 season of ISL will be a key man in the Midfield along with this its packed defense line team India will be prepared to make a mark and battle for the title.

     

     

  • DSport to air Major League Soccer 2018 season in India

    Football lovers in India can tune in to DSport for live action from Major League Soccer season 2018 that kicks off on February 21.

     

    DSport, of Discovery Communications India, in a statement said it would broadcast the football event live to bring live sports content from around the world to audiences in India.

     

    Former England and Manchester United player, David Beckham launched his long-awaited Miami major League super franchise. Miami Beckham United, the investment group headed by Beckham, plans to build a $200 million 25,000-seat stadium in Miami’s Over town neighborhood. Beckham, who retired in May 2013 after a brief stint with Paris Saint-Germaine, played in the MLS for five seasons until November 2012.Miami will be the 25th team and will play their debut season in MLS in 2020.

     

     

  • Lucha Underground makes its India foray with DSport

    Discovery network’s sports channel DSport has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights of Mexican Pro-Wrestling series, Lucha Underground. DSport will broadcast all the three seasons of Lucha Underground, 98 episodes across three seasons, every Friday at 8pm starting September 1, 2017.

     

    Commenting on the acquisition, Karan Bajaj, Senior Vice President and General Manager, South Asia, Discovery Communications India, said: “We are working towards creating a bouquet of Wrestling properties on DSsport. Lucha Underground is a significant addition to ‘Ring of Honour’ and helps us offer a wholesome experience to the Wrestling fans in India. We are also targeting to develop a specific timeslot on DSPORT for the Wrestling fans.”

  • DSport partners Nodwin to broadcast Indian eSports league

    DSport, a sports channel launched by Discovery Communications India, has partnered with Nodwin Gaming to showcase the flagship esports tournament in the country – ESL India Premiership. As a part of the partnership, DSport will telecast 90 minutes of action everyday starting yesterday (July 19), and will continue until December 2017.

     

    “We are excited to showcase eSports for the first time on television in India. The 90-minutes of intense gaming broadcast daily on DSPORT, for over 6 months, will catapult the popularity of eSports further in the country,” said, Karan Bajaj, Senior Vice-President & General Manager, Discovery Communications India.
