  • Deepak Dhar forms CreAsia Studio for SE Asia

    Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO – Banijay Asia and EndemolShine India, has announced the entertainment major’s strategic expansion into South East Asia, with the formation of a new entity – CreAsia Studio. With a focus on local collaborations to create local originals and produce local Banijay IP adaptations, he announced the appointment of Jessica Kam-Engle as the EVP & Business Head of CreAsia Studio. She will report to him, and be responsible for driving business strategy and growth in the key markets of South East Asia – Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

    Talking about the development, Dhar said: “Given Jessica’s unparalleled experience in the Asian market, Banijay’s global IPs and marquee concepts, exciting local collaborations and a focus on India as a production hub for the region, CreAsia Studio is our next growth engine.” He further added, “We’re confident of Jessica’s leadership to steer us towards a leading presence in the region.   • Banijay Group buys out Endemol Shine India

    Media and entertainment organisation Banijay has announced the completion of its buy-out of Endemol Shine India, thus paving way for a reorganisation of Banijay in the region. Both Banijay Asia, and Endemol Shine India will now work under the leadership of Deepak Dhar, who’s been appointed as the Founder and Group CEO.

     

    Talking on the developments, Dhar said: “The reorganisation of Banijay in Asia is our biggest and boldest move yet and aligns with our ambition to drive further growth in India and Asia at-large. Leveraging the creative potential and possibilities of both brands, we will now strategically pursue complimentary yet independent creative portfolios to offer the most diverse, and compelling cross-genre content from across the globe, to our Indian and Asian platforms and screens.”

As a part of his role, Chadha will be responsible for developing the scripted slate for Banijay Asia, building its legacy going forward and taking the organization to its next phase of growth.

  • Ranveer Singh to debut as quiz master on Colors

    General entertainment channel Colors has acquired the rights for quiz show ‘The Big Picture’. The channel has signed actor Ranveer Singh who is to make his television debut as the host. The quiz show for which Byju’s will be presenting sponsor will also be available on Voot and Jio TV. The channel will work in association with Banijay Asia and ITV Studios Global Entertainment B.V.

Written and directed by Vanita Omung Kumar, the film focuses on creating awareness about child abuse and highlighting the importance of communication as most of the Indian families lack the key aspect especially when it comes to such cases.

  • Myntra partners with Banijay Asia to launch digital reality show

    Wavemaker and Banijay Asia have partnered with Myntra to create a digital reality show – Myntra Fashion Superstar. The show is aimed at identifying country’s most sought after digital fashion influencer. The eight-part reality show will go live on Myntra app on September 17, 2019. Actor Sonakshi Sinha and celebrity stylist Shaleena Nathani will be the judges.

     

    Speaking about the show, the Myntra spokesperson said, “Consumers these days look for experiences coming from people whom they can relate to, which are more authentic. Fashion as a category is highly dominated by influencers who play a huge role in consumer’s decision making journey. This partnership will see Banijay Asia and SK TV provided scripted and non-scripted content across genres for Indian and South East Asian markets.

    Former Endemol big(g) boss Deepak Dhar has partnered with Banijay Group, an independent content creation group for television and multimedia platforms. Dhar and Banijay have entered into a 50:50 joint venture in a bid to expand the group’s presence in India and South East Asia. Dhar will be designated Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Banijay Asia. In this new alliance, Banijay Asia, under the guidance of Dhar, will produce scripted and non-scripted content across multiple genres including digital and films for India and South East Asia.

  • Endemol big(g) boss Deepak Dhar moves out of the house

    Market leading independent producer, Endemol Shine India, has announced that Deepak Dhar, its MD and CEO for 11 years, has decided to step down to pursue a new venture. Meanwhile, COO Abhishek Rege will be the new CEO and work along with Dhar in the transition period.

     

    Commenting on behalf of the Endemol Shine India Board, Nicola Bamford, CEO of International Operations at Endemol Shine Group, said: “Abhishek has played a central role in Endemol Shine India’s growth during his time as Chief Operating Officer and we couldn’t ask for stronger leadership to further build on the company’s remarkable successes across non-scripted and scripted genres.  Deepak will be leaving with our sincere thanks for all he has done in driving Endemol Shine India to become the market leader that it is today and we wish him every success for the future.”

  • Colors to start Season 11 of Bigg Boss on Oct 1 on

    The promos have been on air for a few weeks, the social media and television press have been talking about it for a while, and so there was no real surprise that Salman Khan continues as host of Season 11 of mega reality show Bigg Boss. The show launches on Colors on October 1. It will air at 10.30pm Monday through Friday and on weekends at 9pm.

     

    The show details – save the names of the inmates – were revealed to the media in makeshift hangar created at the Tarapore Garden society in the heart of the television software production district in North West Mumbai. The presser happening in a housing complex was in line with the neighbourhood theme of the season.

     

    Billing it as the biggest reality show on Indian television, Raj Nayak, COO, Viacom18 was excited with the launch and the continuing patronage of its sponsors – Appy Fix, Oppo phones and CP Plus security devices. “We are happy to strengthen our partnership with Parle Agro’s Appy Fizz and Oppo Camera Phones for this season as the presenting and powered by sponsors respectively,” he said.

     

    “Voting this year will happen exclusively through Voot,” Nayak said on the sidelines of the media unveiling, adding: “This year has been wonderful for Colors with unique propositions like India Banega Manch and Rising Star and another successful season of Khatron Ke Khiladi.”

     

    Meanwhile it was a big thumbs up from the sponsors of the show, and host Salman Khan in his inimitable style did his bit to boost the equity of the three present.     On the innovations that the show has lined up this year, Manisha Sharma, Programming Head – Colors said: “After the success of the last season with a common man taking the crown, this season we are adding another layer to the theme by giving the housemates ‘padosis’ for company. There are quite a few exciting and innovative elements like an ‘aakhara’ and a ‘kalkothri’. Viewers will be thrilled to see the way these spaces are going to be used.  You will also see Salman Khan in a new avatar in terms of a host. For the first time ever Salman will move around in the Bigg Boss neighbourhood and will be staying alongside the contestants.”
