  • Business Today holds Most Powerful Women in Business awards for 2023

    Prabha Narasimhan, MD & CEO, Colgate-Palmolive India, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson & CEO, Salesforce India, Falguni Nayar, Founder & CEO, Nykaa, Nandini Piramal, Chairperson, Piramal Pharma Ltd, Vibha Padalkar, MD & CEO, HDFC Life Insurance, and Zoya Akhtar, Director & Co-Founder, Tiger Baby, were among the women achievers awarded by Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch at the 20th edition of Business Today’s Most Powerful Women in Business event in Mumbai on Friday.

     

    Six women, who are seven-time winners entered Business Today’s MPW Hall of Fame, making way for new entrants to come in next year. The list of achievers has seven debutantes, four comebacks, and 40 repeat winners from last year. This year’s list also has five global winners – Indians who have made the country proud with their achievements on the world stage.

     

    A special issue of Business Today magazine was unveiled  at the event. Speaking on the occasion, Buch, the first woman chairperson of SEBI, said simply parachuting someone at the top and doing nothing at the bottom will not to work for India. “Don’t do tokenism by putting more women on the board. Let’s see the disclosure on what percentage of your manpower cost goes to women. It will take care of everything,” she said about Indian organisations.

     

    While delivering the vote of thanks, Kalli Purie, Vice-Chairperson, India Today Group, said: “The rise of women power is not just in urban centres and in gatherings such as this, but it has percolated down to rural areas. To me, this churn is the most exciting and interesting that these women are independent, fierce and ambitious. I am really excited at the juncture of history we are in at the moment. What better place to discuss this than at the 20th edition of Business Today’s Most Powerful Women in Business list which honours 56 leaders from across so many fields.”

     

    The evening started with a panel discussion titled ‘A View From The Corner Office’ comprising Ameera Shah, MD, Metropolis Healthcare, Upasana Taku, Co-Founder & COO, MobiKwik, Vinati Saraf Mutreja, MD & CEO, Vinati Organics Ltd, Prabha Narasimhan, MD & CEO, Colgate Palmolive India, and Devita Saraf, Chairperson & CEO, Vu Group. They discussed the challenges and opportunities for women in the world of work.

     

    It continued with  discussions with Ashima Goyal, Member, RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee, Padmaja Chunduru, MD & CEO, National Securities Depository Ltd, Rekha M. Menon, Former Chairperson & Senior Managing Director, Accenture in India, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson & CEO, Salesforce India, Zia Mody, Co–Founder & Managing Partner, AZB & Partners and Kalpana Morparia, Former Chairman, J. P. Morgan, South and Southeast Asia, and other senior business leaders. Nandini Piramal, Chairperson, Piramal Pharma, spoke on ‘Journey Through Leadership & Innovation’, and Zoya Akhtar, filmmaker & co-founder, Tiger Baby, spoke on ‘Creativity Through The Female Lens’.

     

     

  • BT Mindrush 2023 to be held today

    Business Today magazine is conducting BT Mindrush 2023 in Mumbai today.  This year’s discussions will feature a line-up of prominent leaders from the business world, including N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons; Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys and Ajay Piramal, Chairman of Piramal Group, among others. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation & Steel, Government of India, will represent the policymakers.

     

    The conference will begin with a session titled ‘The Entrepreneur’s Playbook: Managing Conflict. Grooming the Next-Gen. Innovation,’ by Sougata Ray, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship (Practice); Chair Professor and Executive Director, Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, Indian School of Business.

     

    A deep dive conversation on ‘The World as India’s Oyster: The Reshaping of Global Supply Chains. China Plus One. India’s New Fortune. Or Missed Opportunity,’ will feature Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, Shashi Kiran Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Allcargo Group, S. Suresh, MD of EID Parry, Sajjan Bhajanka, CMD of Century Plyboards, and Parmod Sagar, MD & CEO of RHI Magnesita.

     

    Ajay Piramal, Chairman of Piramal Group, will share his thoughts on “Animal Spirits: The Investment Drought. The Growth Binge. The Skill of the Entrepreneur.”

     

    A session titled Leverage Play: Appetite for Growth, Lure of Easy Debt, Managing Leverage Risks: How India’s Best Corporations Strike the Right Balance will focus on the balance between growth and debt management, featuring insights from Suresh Narayanan, CMD of Nestlé India, T.V. Narendran, CEO and MD of Tata Steel, Suneeta Reddy, MD, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise and Sanjeev Krishan, Chairman of PwC India.

     

    The Business Today Mindrush 2023 will also host Nandan Nilekani, the Chairman of Infosys, who will speak on “The Transformer: National Identity Creator. E-commerce Evangelist. India’s Tech Conscience.” Later in the evening, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, will share his perspective on “Reinventing Tata: Redirecting the Colossus. Connecting with the Consumer. Successes and Failures.” The session will delve into how Tata Sons navigate the rapidly changing business landscape and build a stronger connection with consumers.

     

    The “The Path to the Trophies” session at the Business Today Mindrush 2023 will explore India’s journey to becoming a global economic power. Vivek Prasad, Leader-Markets at PwC India, will provide insights into the economic factors contributing to India’s growth with a talk on ‘The Path to the Trophies.’

     

    Minister Scindia will speak on the platform to provide a policymaker’s perspective.

     

    The conference will conclude with a special address from Aroon Purie, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India Today Group, followed by the ‘India’s Best CEO Awards’ that is presented in partnership with PwC India.

     

  • Business Today turns 30

    Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with India Today group Chairperson Aroon Purie unveiled Business Today’s 30th Anniversary Special Edition on Tuesday.

     

    Noted a communique: “One of the biggest editions ever of the magazine, the 30th anniversary issue has seven covers, 162 pages of editorial content, and 75 pages of advertisements from across categories like BFSI, IT, Luxury, Education and real estate among others, which include several innovations. On the circulation front, Business Today’s distribution reach has extended to new-age platforms such as Milkbasket, Fresh to Home, Amazon, Flipkart, and non-conventional outlets for magazine sales such as Spencers Retail, Patanjali Mega Mart, milk booths, grocery stores, and super markets. This has not only enabled the magazine sales to revive in the post-pandemic world but also accelerated growth in circulation. As a result, Business Today has already surpassed the pre Covid numbers in terms of circulation by end of January, and with the Anniversary jump of 33 per cent, it has scaled an all-time high.”

    The ITG has appointed Alok Nair as Chief Revenue Officer, and senior journalists Alokesh Bhattacharyya as Managing Editor and content strategist Aayush Ailawadi as Tech Editor of Business Today.

     

    In June this year, the group announced the appointment of Udayan Mukherjee as its Global Business Editor and host of a daily business show. Later, it appointed Sourav Majumdar as the new Editor of Business Today magazine, and Siddharth Zarabi, as Managing Editor of Business Today TV. Also, Anirban Roy, formerly with The Wall Street Journal and Reuters, was appointed Business Today’s Online Editor and Aabha Bakaya as co-host of the Business Today TV show.

    The India Today group’s business magazine, Business Today, is all set for a digital revamp – in text and video.

    As part of its plans, it has announced the appointment of Anirban Roy, formerly with The Wall Street Journal and Reuters, as Business Today’s Online Editor. It has also announced that financial journalist and anchor Aabha Bakaya as co-host of its upcoming Business Today TV show. Bakya was until very recently consultant anchor at ET Now, hosting its flagship ‘The Market’ and ‘Closing Trades’ shows.

     

    Notes a communique: “Ever since its inception in 1992, it [Business Today] has set new benchmarks in business reporting. Last month, the India Today Group announced the appointment of Udayan Mukherjee, the country’s biggest and undisputed icon in business journalism, as its Global Business Editor and host of a daily business show premiering on India Today from August 1. Earlier in July, the network named one of India’s most prominent magazine editors, Sourav Majumdar, as the new Editor of the Business Today Magazine, and Siddharth Zarabi, an award-winning journalist and former editor of Bloomberg TV, as the Managing Editor of Business Today TV.”

    Close on the heels of Udayan Mukherjee joining as its Global Business Editor, the India Today group has announced two more senior appointments as part of its plans to bolster its coverage of business news in the post-pandemic economic order.

    Sourav Majumdar is the new Editor of the Business Today Magazine, and Siddharth Zarabi will be Managing Editor of Business Today TV. Majumdar has led the Indian editions of Fortune and Forbes and earlier Entrepreneur magazine.

    Zarabi, who was Editor of BTVI (earlier Bloomberg TV India) until recently, has been with CNBC TV18 in the past as well as Business Standard and The Indian Express.

  • Business Today announces the 5th Edition of BT MindRush

    Business Today will host the fifth edition of MindRush, the India Today group’s annual flagship business event. The one-day conference will take place on January 13 in Mumbai.

     

    This year’s edition will include masterclasses by domain experts like Eduardo Briceño – Mindset Master, Growth Mindset and Improvement Expert; Lisa Gill – Learning Disrupter and Mark Inglis – Mountain Ranger among others.

     

    The day-long event will have sessions targeting contemporary business problems like workforce management through discussions on How to Make Baby Boomers, Gen-Xers, Millennials Work in One Frame by invited panellists including S.V. Nathan, Group HR Head, Deloitte; Rajkamal Vempatti, CHRO, Axis Bank; Sunil Lulla, Chairman & MD, Grey Group; Abhinav Chopra, CHRO, Viacom 18.

  • Punit Goenka awarded ‘Best CEO’ by Business Today

     

     

    Punit Goenka, Managing Director and CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) received the coveted Business Today ‘Best CEO Award’ in the Media and Entertainment category for 2016. The award was presented by Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday, December 17.
