  • Tata Steel unveils corporate brand campaign

    By A Correspondent

Tata Steel has embarked on a corporate brand campaign that celebrates the brand as the catalyst for ushering in a new era in the journey of the organisation.

The campaign line #WeAlsoMakeTomorrow, which recalls the iconic line We Also Make Steel, emerged from the fact that the future is being shaped by imagination and imagination needs steel to become a reality.

Commenting on the brief, Bindu Sethi, Chief Strategy Officer, J. Walter Thompson said: “We were required to reimagine the role of Tata Steel in today’s world. The continuing importance of a company like Tata Steel in shaping the future of our world. The brief to creative was: imagination and ideas would remain in the mind and on paper unless Tata Steel makes them a reality. That is the power of steel. Tata Steel’s technology and innovation gives life to imagination that shapes our future.”

Added Senthil Kumar, Chief Creative Officer, J Walter Thompson said: “The Tatas wanted to build a steel plant in 1907 and chose Sakchi, a village in the jungle by the banks of two rivers. They ended up building the shining city of Jamshedpur that is exemplary in so many ways. This pioneering culture of innovation in the company led the epic campaign created by JWT in the late eighties ‘we also make steel’. It is an honour for JWT to have worked on the past, present and the future of this legendary company, building a bridge of steel from yesterday to tomorrow. While working on this campaign we met thousands of Tata Steel employees, team leaders and business heads. We rediscovered a company that is shaping the future, with steel at its core and the pioneering culture of innovation as the collective soul for over a hundred years. But what drives innovation is pure childlike imagination. And that is the leap we took to deliver the new line – We also Make Tomorrow.”

  • JWT elevates Pinaki Bhattacharya to Natnl Planning Dir

    By A Correspondent

Pinaki Bhattacharya has been appointed as the National Planning Director, J Walter Thompson India. Bhattacharya has been with JWT for over six years and in his last role as Senior Vice President and Executive Planning Director, he was the planning lead on many of the marquee brands in the Delhi office.

In his role as NPD, Bhattacharya along with Mythili Chandrasekar (National Planning Director) will work closely with Bindu Sethi- Chief Strategy Officer to champion the just-launched, new J Walter Thompson way of working – ‘The Pioneering Process’.

Making the appointment, Tarun Rai, CEO, J Walter Thompson South Asia said; “The planning function has always been J Walter Thompson’s strong suit. After all, we invented the planning function in New York, way back in 1968. With so much disruption in just about every aspect of marketing and communication, Planning as a function assumes even greater importance today. The focus of JWT Planning is on solving our clients’ business problems and our new collaborative process – The Pioneering Process – seeks to do just that. It gives me great pleasure to announce Pinaki’s new role as a National Planning Director. Bindu Sethi, our Chief Strategy Officer, now has two senior colleagues in, Mythili and Pinaki to lead the largest team of planners in India.”

  • Bindu Sethi to be National Head Planning @ JWT

    By Shubhangi Mehta

Post putting in her papers at Grey, Bindu Sethi is now joining JWT India as the National head planning. Industry sources close to the development have confirmed the news to MxM India. She will be based out of Delhi.

It was reported yesterday that Ms Sethi has called it a day at Grey. Since then there have been a lot of speculations as to where will she be moving now.

Ms Sethi has spent nearly more than two decades in the advertising and marketing industry. She joined Grey India in 2009 as the national planning director. In May 2010, she was promoted as the chief strategy planning officer for Asia Pacific. However, she continued to handle India responsibilities as well.

Joining JWT can also be regarded as a homecoming for Ms Sethi, as she began her career at the Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB). She then moved to JWT where she developed and headed the strategic planning department for eight years. She was instrumental in building JWT’s reputation for deep consumer sensitivity and brand building. At JWT she got the opportunity to work on brands such as Horlicks and Maggi.

She was instrumental in creation of JWT’s social communications division Thompson Social, which redefined the role of communications in the adoption of new health practices amongst rural and suburban populations. Furthermore, her experience extends to the marketing side of the business, where she partnered Hindustan Lever Limited as General Marketing Manager – Personal & Hair Care. There, she formulated the brand vision, strategy and proposition for Unilever’s family health portfolio comprising three brands across seven South Asia and South East Asian markets.

With experience as diverse and rich as hers, it comes as no surprise that she won WPP’s prestigious Atticus Award for original thinking for her piece entitled Understanding India through Advertising.
