  • Sahara Media Group hires Alok Nair as Chief Commercial Officer

    Sahara Media Group, which runs a bouquet of national and regional channels, Rashtriya Sahara editions of Hindi newspapers, as well as Rashtriya Roznama editions of Urdu Newspapers is undergoing a strategic and structural rehaulin terms of content, technology, branding and distribution. Under the process, the group has hired Alok Nair as a Chief Commercial Officer. Nair will contribute in evolving a commercial strategy for the network and comes with experience with The Times of India group Network 18 and Bloomberg TV India in the past.

     

    On the ongoing changes, Abhijit Sarkar, Guardian of the Sahara Media Group said: “There is an evident change in media consumption habits, which needs to be understood, apprehended and calibrated to. We are confident that the current strategic changes undertaken the present team at Sahara Media Group will help in better leveraging the depth of our network along with notching up scales to current and future requirements of the viewers.”

  • Sahara India Media appoints Arup Ghosh as CEO & Editor-in-Chief

    Sahara India Media (SIM) is recasting its programming and packaging with an eye on a digital future. Sahara has brought in Arup Ghosh as CEO and Editor-in-Chief of its news media division.

     

    Other than the news channels in Hindi and regionals, the Samay News Network has seven editions of the Hindi daily Rashtriya Sahara and nine editions of Urdu daily Roznama. Ghosh is likely to initiate a significant digital foray for the company.

    Said Ghosh: “It’s a matter of great privilege to be back at SIM especially at a time when the media landscape is undergoing transformation with the explosion of digital media.We are aiming to take Samay News Network & Rashtriya Sahara (Hindi & Urdu) to the next level by introducing differentiated content which are a cut above the competition with a fine forward-looking digital strategy and maximizing content monetization through synergized operations between its TV, print anddigital verticals.”

     

    According to industry sources, the various Sahara India Media offerings will see a relaunch soon, and backed up by a marketing offensive. There is no clear timeline set for the relaunch, but we are told it will happen ahead of Diwali 2017.
