    Sony LIV & Applause strengthen partnership

    Sony LIV and Applause Entertainment have unveiled their upcoming slate for 2023 strengthening their  partnership. Two new series ‘Kafas’ (Cage) and ’36 Days’ are lined up along with return of other seasonal shows. ‘Kafas’ produced in association with Madiba Entertainment is a social drama series starring Sharman Joshi, Mona Singh, Vivan Bhathena, Preeti Jhangiani and Mikail Gandhi in lead roles and directed by Sahil Sangha.

     

    The second series ‘36 Days’ produced in association with BBC Studios India is a suspense thriller, directed by Vishal Furia, featuring an ensemble cast including Neha Sharma, Purab Kohli, Shruti Seth, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sharib Hashmi, Shernaz Patel, Faishal Rashid, Chahat Vig, Kenneth Desai in pivotal roles.

    Applause Entertainment, a venture of the Aditya Birla group, has announced key organisational realignments in its senior leadership team. To further expand its content ecosystem, the content studio strengthens its core team with newer roles and responsibilities. Deepak Segal (Head – Content) will now be leading charge across all Content Verticals as the Chief Creative Officer. Prasoon Garg (GM & Business Head), will now consolidate all Business, Commercial and Revenue functions under him as the Chief Business Officer.

    Voot Select goes original for Kannada

    Voot Select, the Viacom18 OTT plaform, is set to launch its maiden Kannada-language series ‘Humble Politiciann Nograj’. The 10-episode web series is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Firstaction Studios and Danish Sait. The show is written and directed by Saad Khan.

     

    Speaking on the launch of its first Kannada Original, Ferzad Palia, Head – SVOD & International Business at Viacom18 said: “At Voot Select, we have been constantly growing our content offering. The release of our first Kannada original, reinforces our commitment to cater to audiences across the country and serve them entertainment in a language of their choice. Humble Politiciann Nograj is the first in a robust list of Regional originals that will drop over 2022.     Applause Entertainment, the content studio from the Aditya Birla Group led by media veteran Sameer Nair, has announced a landmark partnership with Amar Chitra Katha.  As a part of this collaboration, Applause Entertainment has acquired the license to the Amar Chitra Katha catalogue, comprising 400+ titles which will be developed and produced into animated content.

    Aditya Birla Group’s Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India will produce the British mystery thriller ‘Guilt’. The Indian version of Guilt, which is yet to be titled, will be directed by Shaad Ali with Jaideep Ahlawat and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub playing the lead roles.

    SonyLIV to air Sucheta Dalal-Debashis Basu’s Harshad Mehta scam series

    On Friday, October 9 SonyLIV will unveil ‘Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story’, an original around the stockmarket operator Harshad Mehta and the securities scandal of the early 1990s.

     

    The 10-episode show is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Studio Next and is based on the bestseller book ‘The Scam’ written by journalists Debashis Basu and Sucheta Dalal.

    Kicking off the partnership, the two will work together to develop Indian versions of acclaimed BBC formats, Criminal Justice and The Office to bring to online audiences throughout India.

    Applause Entertainment has announced plans to bring to life the true account of India’s Surgical Strikes on terror launch-pads across the LOC in September 2016.
