  • IAMAI to promote ‘new age’ Indian brands

    By A Correspondent

The Internet & Mobile Association of India is perhaps known more as a club of the big dads in the internet world and the legacy brands from media and marketing, even though what drives the internet-driven world is the lakhs of start-ups and professionals who fuel the economy.

Well, in a bid to promote new age Indian brands across segments such as food, consumer durables, electronics, fashion, FMCG, etc., IAMAI has now set up a founders’ community of direct to consumer Indian brands. The unifying features of these brands are that they are digital-first, innovative, competitive, and manufacture or produce in India.

At present there are at least 100-odd such brands in the market and more are emerging every day, notes a communiuqe adding that these brands are innovative since they cater to a younger and often first-time shopper catering to a niche demand.

With 35 such brands in tow, a committee chaired by Aman Gupta, Co-Founder and CMO of Boat audio and co-chaired by Manish Chowdhary, Co-Founder of Wow Skin Science has been set up.

Said Gupta: “To ensure a brand continues to do well, it is almost imperative for businesses to enhance their Direct to Customer (D2C) channel. The model enables a brand to listen to the unfiltered voice of their customer and is a natural progression from shifting the online shoppers to buy from the brand’s website and own the experience, data, and lifetime value of the customer. The committee will bring the ecosystem together, indulge in knowledge creation, and put forth the best practices in a mission to build internet-driven iconic brands.”

Chowdhary added in a communique that the committee will jointly look towards building the consumers’ trust by engaging in better customer communication and other similar initiatives by D2C entities.

  • The Worldcom PR Group highlights role of talent, in latest report

    By A Correspondent

Business leaders should expect to face a battle for talent in 2018, according to a new Report issued by The Worldcom Public Relations Group. The report indicates that 43 per cent more organisations are planning to give most attention to employees in 2018 – the only audience to see an increase in attention since 2017. This heightened focus on employees seems to be driven by what CEOs and CMOs see as the top three threats to achieving their organisation’s plans. The first is government and legislative changes; the second is the lack of available talent and, the third is cyber crime.

The Report, entitled the Worldcom Confidence Index (CI) explores the issues global CEOs and CMOs believe will most influence business success in 2018. The leap in attention for employees may also be a response to very low confidence levels when it comes to the ability to attract and retain the best talent.

Despite these low confidence scores, and only marginally above average confidence for the ability to increase productivity by energizing and engaging employees, business leaders remain surprisingly optimistic about their ability to satisfy customers, rating it as their top source of optimism for 2018.

Employees have a crucial role to play in ensuring compliance with regulations and with essential cyber protection practices. As a result, the report’s findings are a clear signal that leaders see employees as a vital ingredient for success. In fact, attracting the best talent ranked highest as the criteria that will have the most influence on success in 2018 – just ahead of the strength of the global economy. It was three times higher than disruptive competition, which declined to almost half its 2017 level.

Reflecting on the Worldcom Confidence Index Global report, Aman Gupta, Managing Partner of S.P.A.G. Asia, said: “I second the findings of the report. It has become the imminent need to lay more focus on empowering employees, along with honing their talent and transforming them into excellent brand advocates. That is the way forward to take organizations several notches higher wherein the benefits stretch beyond pure profit.”

  • Indian Pharma and Healthcare companies in need of a ‘Digital Prescription’

    By A Correspondent

More than half of the pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in India have a placeholder presence on digital platforms, and are failing to actively engage with their stakeholders, the ‘India Digital Health Report 2017’ by D Yellow Elephant has revealed.

The report analysed 160 India-based companies across four verticals – pharmaceuticals, medical devices &equipment, diagnostics and hospitals. The companies were studied on 12 key digital and social parameters – websites, apps, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, Blogger, Pinterest, Flickr, Instagram and Tumblr.

Based on presence, engagement, response, and consumer followership, companies are segregated into three categories – Digital Primes (the torch-bearers), Aspirants (gradually moving up on the digital curve) and Onlookers (silent observers).

The findings reveal that only 14 per cent companies emerged as Digital Primes. 54 per cent companies qualify as Digital Aspirants while the remaining 32 per cent fall under the category of Digital Onlookers.

Said Aman Gupta, Managing Director, D Yellow Elephant: “The report indicates that pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in India are affected by ‘Engagement Draught’- present across most social media platforms but reluctant to engage with stakeholders. With HCPs (Health Care Professionals), patients, caregivers and policymakers consuming bulk of information online, it is imperative for companies to develop a digital ecosystem spread across multiple channels.”
