  • Jury announced for AFAA ‘Changemakers For Good’ Awards

    The Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) had introduced its first ever unique pan-Asian Awards called Changemakers for Good in four categories;

    1) Advertising; (for messaging that has been transformational in the public space).

    2) Government; (which is for a similar messaging but from the Government or an arm of the Government).

    3) Industry Leader; (for a leader in the communications industry who has consistently led societal change in the last few years).

    4) Innovation; (where technology or a radically different approach has made a difference in the lives of people).

     

    The period for the advertising messages would be the calendar year 2022. The awards will be judged in a two-tiered manner. National and then Pan Asian.

     

    The Advertising Council of India (ACI) has been a distinguished member of AFAA. ACI whose constituents are The Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA), Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), The Advertising Club and India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) announced that entries for the AFAA Changemakers For Good Awards have been judged by an erudite jury to pick the winners for India.

     

    The jury members are Avinash Pandey (CEO, ABP Network and President, India Chapter of the IAA), Partha Sinha (President, Times of India Group and President, The Advertising Club, Sangeeta Pendurkar (CEO, Pantaloons at Aditya Birla Group) and Jaideep Gandhi (Founder, Another Idea).

     

    Srinivasan Swamy Chairman & Managing Director, R K Swamy Limited and Chairman, Asian Federation of Advertising Associations said: “These awards are unique. They seek to salute those advertising, media and tech professionals and companies who are using communication for making a positive impact on society. The quality of the entries received was very good, and the awards would achieve their objective of positioning the marcom community in its proper way, as caring people, who are using communication as a real force for good.”

     

  • ACI offers AFAA New Age Leadership Programme

    The Advertising Council of India (ACI) has announced a New Age Leadership Program between August 23rd and 26th 2023, under the aegis of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) free of charge to 25 potential young leaders under 35 years of age.

     

    Says Srinivasan Swamy, Chairman AFAA: “ This is a real effort of industry Associations to give back to our industry and also help shape the future of our industry in a manner that tomorrow’s leaders are exposed to what we call a 4-day experiential and inspirational immersive event. The multi-city experience will be an all-expenses-paid learning opportunity covering Mumbai Ahmedabad and Surat.”

     

    Added Manish Advani, Founder and CEO MIMO Potentio, an eight-times TEDx speaker and recipient of the International Green Apple Award at the House of Commons in the British Parliament, who is the Program Facilitator: “The 25 young professionals could be young marketers, advertising executives, market research executives, digital and analytics executives, space/time marketing executives to mention a few areas. They will visit interesting corporates, institutions, cooperatives and interact physically and digitally with leaders from across India and even the world. I believe they can transform from promising young professionals to future leaders.”

     

  • Srinivasan Swamy elected Chairman AFAA

    The Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA), at its General Body Meeting held on Wednesday, elected Srinivasan Swamy as its Chairman for a term of four years. Swamy, who is well known as the Chairman of R K Swamy Hansa group, has held leadership positions in many industry bodies at a national and global level. He has been Chairman and World President of the International Advertising Association (IAA), Chairman Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations (CAAAA), President Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), IAA India Chapter, Chairman Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), President All India Management Association (AIMA), to name a few.

     

    Said Swamy: “This is a privilege not just for me but for the Indian marcom community at large. The AFAA not just hosts the prestigious AdAsia conference, but is also connected with AdStars, and runs the widely acclaimed FastTrack program where young professionals are trained and transformed in a three-day program. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to the communications industry in Asia, as well as seeing how AFAA can work along with other global industry Associations and further the cause of professionalism.”

     

    Adds a communique: “India has seen two distinguished AFAA Chairmen in the past – Gautam Rakshit and Pradeep Guha. Unfortunately both of them passed away recently.”

     

    AFAA is represented in India by the Advertising Council of India (ACI) whose members are The Advertising Club, the Advertising Agencies Association of India, the India Chapter of International Advertising Association, Indian Broadcasting and Digital Association and the Indian Society of Advertisers.

     

  • Srinivasan Swamy inducted in STACA Trust

    Srinivasan K Swamy, Chairman of the R K Swamy Hansa Group, was inducted as a trustee in the STACA Trust.

     

    STACA is the apex body whose operating arm is the Advertising Council of India (ACI). ACI is well known in the advertising world as the organisation which had organised AdAsia in Jaipur 2003 and in New Delhi in 2011. It also sponsors young industry professionals for self-development in the widely acclaimed “Fast-track” program of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

     

    Said STACA Trust Chairman Ramesh Narayan: “Srinivasan Swamy is a well-known  advertising leader who had been associated with various prestigious industry Associations globally viz. World President of the New York based International Advertising Association (the first Indian to hold this position), President of Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), President of the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA), Chairman of Advertising Standards Council of India,  Vice Chairman of Asian Federation of Advertising Agencies, to mention a few. Mr Swamy’s grasp of industry matters and his enthusiasm for exploring new frontiers will go a long way in promoting the cause of the marcom space through STACA Trust and ACI. His presence will no doubt infuse a sense of renewed vigour and enthusiasm.”

     

    Said Swamy: “It’s an honour for me to be inducted as STACA trustee.  I will do my best to this position and match the stature of some of earlier trustees viz. Pradeep Guha, Gautam Rakshit, Dr Ram Tarneja etc and guide to upgrade the skills of advertising professionals so that our young people match the best in the world and bring laurels to our industry as well as country. My main emphasis will be on public service communication, which is the need of the hour and I look forward to support from media houses for these societal issues. It is important to activate ACI as the platform for all major industry bodies, which it is.”

     

  • Jaideep Gandhi joins STACA Board

    The Standing Committee on Advertising (STACA), at a meeting of their Board of Trustees inducted senior adperson Jaideep Gandhi, Founder of Another Idea, onto their Board of Trustees. STACA is the apex body whose operations arm is the Advertising Council of India (ACI).

    Said Pradeep Guha, Chairman of STACA: “Jaideep Gandhi has been a veteran advertising person associated with prestigious industry Associations such as the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) for many years. His understanding of industry matters will be an asset to STACA and ACI, under whose aegis the AdAsia has been held in India. ACI also sponsors six young professionals every year to the prestigious FastTrack program in Malaysia.”

     

    STACA was set up in 1981 as a Public Charitable Trust. Its main object is to impart education in advertising, marketing and allied subjects. Besides, the Trust organises various activities to promote growth & development of advertising and marketing and to promote better understanding amongst all the constituents in the field of advertising.

     

     

  • AFAA & IAA host Fasttrack, a Leadership Development Programme

    The Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) and the International Advertising Association (IAA) concluded the seventh edition of Fasttrack, a three-day leadership programme for young professionals in Kuala Lumpur from September 11 to 13 2019. The participants were from Malaysia, India, China, Taiwan , Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

     

    Said Pradeep Guha of the Advertising Council of India (ACI): “I am delighted that Fasttrack has come so far. The feedback from all our nominees from India has been superb. I am also happy to note that they are advancing steadily in their professional lives and contributing gainfully to our industry. The ACI, which has as its members the IAA (India Chapter), AAAI, Advertising Club and IBF has been sponsoring six delegates for an all-expenses-paid experience in the programme for the last several years. We believe it is our investment in our industry and the returns are showing now. We conduct a national search for these six delegates and this year the entire search and short-listing was handled by media veteran Paritosh Joshi. We are happy to continue backing Fasttrack and wish it spreads from Malaysia, where it is being run now, to India as well”.

     

    Added Bharat Avalani, Chief Knowledge Officer of the AFAA and the pioneer of the programme: “We are incredibly heartened by the breakthroughs. We continually receive positive feedback from the human resources department of the participants, and we are pleased to witness their ability to engage in higher-level conversations and take greater responsibility in their work. The advertising and marketing  industry is challenged like never before; trust and credibility is diminishing, therefore this is a critical time for us to raise leaders with the right attitudes to seek solutions,”.

     

     

  • Sunil Kataria to lead Indian delegation at Ad Asia Bali

    The Advertising Council of India (ACI) and The Advertising Club has announced the appointment of Sunil Kataria, Business Head, Godrej Consumer Products as leader of the Indian delegation for the AdAsia Congress to be held in Bali later this year.

     

    Making the announcement, Srinivasan K Swamy, Vice Chairman, Asian Federation of Advertising Associations and a representative of The Advertising Council of India said:“Ad Asia is a great forum for the Indian creative and media maestros to interact with other global practitioners on evolving industry trends. Having someone which such rich and versatile multi-functional and sectoral experience as Mr Sunil Kataria lead the Indian delegation is sure to ensure that the India delegation plays an inspiring and impactful role at the Congress.”

     

    Speaking about the appointment of Kataria as the leader to the Indian delegation, Raj Nayak, President, The Advertising Club said: “India has been at the forefront of some ground breaking and high impact media campaigns. A coveted knowledge platform like Ad Asia 2017 is a great place to showcase the immersive and transformational work being done by the India media and advertising diaspora.  With Sunil helming the Indian delegation, we are sure to receive the best representation at the form. Sunil with his in-depth understanding of the Indian market dynamics and global trends in sure to add significant value to the Indian delegation.”

     

    Speaking about being nominated to lead the Indian delegation, Kataria said:“I am honoured to be nominated to lead the Indian contingent to the prestigious Congress.  The forum is a great platform for the fraternity to network with global creative leads and jam on media and marketing trends in the new social paradigm that   we are currently in.  We hope to have significant Indian representation at the event and would hence urge maximum participation by corporates at the event.”

     

    Ad Asia 2017, Bali is expected that witness close to 2000 executives from marketing companies, advertising agencies, and media organisations attend this landmark event from all around the Asia Pacific region.  To be held between November 7 and 10, the Advertising Council of India (ACI) and The Advertising Club have announced a special delegate fee applicable on early bird entries for India at US$ 870 per delegate as against the rate of US$ 1100.

     

  • ACI to Fast Track six professionals to Kuala Lumpur

    The Advertising Council of India (ACI) whose members are The Indian Society of Advertisers, The Advertising Agencies Association of India, The Indian Broadcasters Foundation, The International Advertising Association and The Advertising Club will be sponsoring six professionals for a special Fast Track program curated by the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA). The program called “Fast Track” will be run in Kuala Lumpur between 20th and 22nd September 2016.

     

    This opportunity is available to young (below 35 years of age) professionals with at least five years work experience in marketing, advertising and media.

     

    Candidates desirous of taking advantage of this industry-oriented initiative need send in their applications with a brief profile of themselves, their valid passport number and a 100 words piece on “How I would improve certain aspects of our industry that I believe need improving” to acifasttrack@gmail.com by 16th August 2016.

     

    Shortlisted candidates would be called for an interview in Mumbai and six of them would fly to Malaysia for an all-expenses trip that would otherwise cost around $2500.
